Structural study of x(Fe203·V2O5)·(100-x)[P2O5·Li20] and xFe2O3·(100-x)[P2O5·Li2O] glass systems by Raman spectroscopy

Abstrakt: Glasses from x(Fe2O3·V2O5)·(100-x)[P2O5 ·Li20] and x(Fe2O3)·(100-x)[P2O5 ·Li2O] systems, with 0≤x≤50 mol%, were prepared and investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The influence of Fe2O3 and V2O5 content on the structure of P2O5·Li2O glass matrix was followed. The Fe3+ ions in sites of distorted octahedral symmetry and clustered formations containing both Fe3+ and Fe2+ ionic species were evidenced in the both samples. Dipolar and super-exchange interactions involving iron ions were revealed depending on the iron and vanadium content of the both sample. The P2O5·Li2O glass matrix presents three absorption bands characteristic to metaphosphate chain structures. The addition of Fe2O3 and Fe203·V2O5 determines modification of the structure to the studied glasses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
