Abstrakt: This study was designed to assess the effects of breed and inclusion levels of sun-dried pineapple peel on the growth performance of growing rabbit bucks. Thirty-two (32) purebred growing rabbits (Chinchilla, Dutch and New Zealand White) aged between 6-7 weeks with an initial average weight of 762.25±52.66 g were used for the study. The experiment was laid out in a 3 x 4 factorial arrangement (three breeds and four dietary treatments) in a completely randomized design. The rabbits were randomly assigned to the four dietary treatments (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% PP) with eight rabbits per treatment. The rabbits were fed for a period of 56 days. Each rabbit was housed in a separate pen. Data collected and calculated were initial weight (g), final weight (g), total weight gain (g), daily weight gain (g), total feed intake (g), daily feed intake (g), feed conversion ratio, and mortality. The data collected were analyzed using Statistix and the means with significant differences were compared using Duncan Multiple Range Test. There was no significant (p>0.05) difference in all the growth parameters for breed and graded levels except on mortality. Inclusion of up to 15% PP across all breeds gave zero mortality. This study therefore concluded that, the sun-dried pineapple peel is a suitable feedstuff for rabbit of different breeds and up to 15% PP can be used without any adverse effect on growth performance of rabbit bucks.
