Abstrakt: Turf Removal in Las Vegas Stalled after the 2000s Despite Increasing Cash Incentives to Rip Out Grass * Incentives are adjusted for inflation. ProPublica then applied the nonfunctional turf rules that SNWA adopted in 2021 to the remaining grass. After years of voluntary turf removal, the Las Vegas Valley has 9,000 acres of grass remaining. HOAs have worked to reduce the impact of the nonfunctional turf ban on their communities - including via attempts to influence the committee that officially defined nonfunctional turf and requests to be exempted from the ban.
