The present study on the relationship between the incidence of whitefly and plant morphological and biochemical characteristics was conducted during kharif 2016 at G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India. The leaf phenotypic and biochemical characteristics like trichome density, leaf area, trichome length, total sugars and protein content in tested germplasm lines showed significant positive correlation with incidence of whitefly however, significant negative correlation was observed between leaf phenol content and whitefly incidence on different germplasm lines. Thus, the soybean genotypes having broad leaves with long and dense trichomes and less phenols and more sugars and protein have to be selected for the development of whitefly-resistant soybean lines.
