In today's aesthetically driven world, function of the prosthesis still remains the dentist's primary concern. There should be a harmonious relationship between the prosthesis, the adjacent soft tissue and natural dentition to fulfil the aesthetic demands of the patients. Several techniques for tissue augmentation with onlay grafts, pedicle grafts or with allografts have been used since years. Vascularized interpositional periosteal connective tissue (VIPCT) flap has the potential to augment predictable amount of tissue and has many benefits when compared to other soft tissue augmentation techniques.
