In this study, the analysis of the functioning of a conveyor-type roasting machine is carried out. It was found that there is an uneven distribution of coolant gas flows in different parts of the grate of the grate. In order to increase the efficiency of the firing machine, it is necessary to eliminate this unevenness. In addition, it is important to burn the pelletized phosphorus-containing ore raw materials with an increase in the temperature of the raw materials in the lower layers of the multilayer dense layer of ore material. This measure will eliminate the effect of segregation. It is also necessary to control the temperature values of the gases at the outlet of the firing zone. To eliminate temperature heterogeneity in the grate area, it is also possible to adjust the temperature and direction of the burners in the furnace of the roasting machine. These measures contribute to improving the energy efficiency of the energy-chemical-technological process of firing the initial phosphorus-containing material. All these measures are proposed to be used in a complex of energy-saving measures, which take into account the features of heat and mass transfer processes activated thermally in a dense layer of polyfractive phosphorus-containing raw materials, and consider ways to increase their intensity. The need to improve the accuracy of gas-dynamic and thermal modes of operation is justified from the scientific and applied side. In addition, a strategy is proposed to search for significant, scientifically sound and technologically justified solutions that would take into account the temperature characteristics of heat and mass exchange in a polyfraction dense layer of phosphorus-containing ore raw materials out, the firing process of which is carried with a cross-flow of gas that performs the function of a heating agent out. This makes it possible to produce a deterministic description of thermally activated chemical and energy-technological processes occurring in energy-intensive apparatuses used for firing pelletized or lumpy ore material. It is scientifically and practically justified that for the correct and energy-resource-efficient course of the process of firing phosphate raw materials, it is necessary to draw up a regime map of the functioning of the conveyor firing machine, which will take into account the granulometric, qualitative and other characteristics of the initial phosphorus-containing material.
