Abstrakt:	The article discusses the results of preliminary analysis of two death registers in Istanbul, Turkey from 1838 and 1840 using spectral clustering. Topics covered include how the registers shed light on the relationship between mortality and urban topography, how the database was geocoded and how the data was prepared. It also points out that the analysis of the death registers poses several methodological difficulties.
