Productivity improvement is crucial in ensuring the competitiveness of an organization. One of the methods that can help in productivity improvement is the Monozukuri idea of manufacturing design. Creating a new machine is a characteristic of any growing, competitive, and dynamic industries. Monozukuri consists of the word "mono" which means "products," and "zukuri" which means "process of making or creation". The essential process in the study context is the spreading roll of fabrics by un-winding it onto long wide tables in prior of marking and cutting into a desired shape. A fabrication of a prototype of "Monozukuri machine" is developed to suit the needs Company A production line. Among the methodologies implemented are an observation study to define where exactly the Monozukuri is required along the production line. Secondly, the design development of the Monozukuri mechanism using CATIA and finally to fabricate a prototype model using cardboard and polystyrene to simulate the proposed method. The result of this research can potentially ease to the operation of unwinding the fabric into layer, minimizing the injury and reduce time and cost of the spreading process in the production line.
