Abstrakt: Primary sclerosing cholangitis is an obstructive type biliary tract disease in which the ducts are both diffusely thickened and stenotic. In making this diagnosis, rigid criteria must be met. If the diagnosis is confirmed at surgical exploration, a biliary decompression or drainage procedure must be accomplished. Medical adjunctive therapy includes postoperative antibiotics, followed by long-term steroid therapy. A case managed in this manner with documented gross, histologic, and x-ray reversal of this disease process has been presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
