Abstrakt: The results in creation of continuous-wave bismuth-doped fiber lasers operating in a wavelength range of 1.3–1.5 m with diode pumping (using multimode semiconductor laser diodes) are presented. The concept of development of such devices is considered by an example of a laser scheme. The problems concerning the peculiarities of operation of cladding-pumped bismuth-doped fiber lasers, their main parameters (efficiency, generation power, and stability) are discussed. In addition, the possibilities of optimization of the parameters of such devices by changing the geometry of the inner cladding and using dual-wavelength pumping are considered.
