We have in mind interdisciplinary paediatric mental health care with a consultation liaison team including nurse specialists, and (paediatric) psychiatrists and psychologists. This comment refers to the article available online at https://doi.org/10.1007/s00134-022-06974-w With great interest and growing enthusiasm, we have read the paper by Nydahl and colleagues of the intensive care unit (ICU) kids workgroup, and we could not agree more [[1]]. We think that the next recommendation could be: B Recommendation 11: 'Facilitate the discrete use of mobile phones for taking pictures and/or making audio recordings and film footage of loved ones in the ICU'. b The use of the mobile phone may serve the mental health processing of the whole dramatic situation, not only for the patients themselves, but also for the other relatives and loved ones directly or indirectly involved.
