Abstrakt: Starting from a research experience developed in Portugal, the contribution investigates ruin as a body immersed into landscape and architectural project as a tool for taking care of heritage. The specificity of Portuguese landscapes leads to think about the relation between ruins, nature and architectural design and on the possibility of weaving connections between widespread archaeology and newly conceived inclusive spaces. Strategies are identified through some Portuguese design examples, understood as “therapies”, in which new architecture becomes a device for inhabiting archaeology and for triggering local urban development, transforming archaeological areas into spaces for landscape metamorphosis.
