This paper focuses on the effects of potential ground motion variations in the range of 6.6–7.2 Mw from the Lembang Fault on the dynamic response of groundwater (Gw)-bearing layers in the Bandung Groundwater Basin. The dynamic response of the soil deposits is considered as a one-dimensional model due to the vertical shear wave propagation therein, influenced by local soil conditions or properties that are linear viscoelastic with variable damping. Meanwhile, the bedrock is considered an elastic medium upon which the shear wave propagates due to ground motion. The ground motion may cause the liquefaction of Gw-bearing layers near the bedrock with intensities starting from 6.8 Mw. Ground motions in the range of 6.6–7.2 Mw can cause peak ground acceleration at the ground surface ranging between 0.15–0.25 gal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
