Proximal femoral fracture (PFF) is one of the most common causes of admission to trauma and orthopedic hospital. As the life expectancy of the population increases, the share of elderly people, including those with chronic somatic pathology, increases; accordingly, the number of registered PFF increases. About 1,700,000 cases of PFF s are reported worldwide each year. All this certainly indicates the great social significance of this problem. We have conducted an analysis of the sources of world literature on the social significance and surgical treatment in this category of patients. It was found that despite the large number of literature sources, a differentiated approach to the use of certain types of osteosynthesis or arthroplasty has not been definitively developed.
