Abstrakt: In drawing parallels with osteomyelitis management in diabetic foot ulcers; International guidelines suggest if osteomyelitis is clinically suspected and a plain x-ray and clinical/laboratory findings are compatible, no further imaging is recommended. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans demonstrated high STIR signal in the distal sacrum and coccyx suspicious for ongoing osteomyelitis. If there is diagnostic doubt, then advanced imaging with MRI or nuclear medicine is advised, with a SPECT-CT used to demonstrate resolution of infection. [Extracted from the article]
