Earthquakes are one of the most devastating natural disasters, due to their uncertainty and destructive power. The integration of disaster risk reduction education in science can be done with appropriate learning, for example field experiential learning. This study aims to determine the effect of field-based experiential learning science learning on earthquake disaster preparedness and mitigation for junior high school students. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest static group design. The research population was all seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Seyegan, which were taken using cluster random sampling. The research sample consisted of an experimental class using science learning based on field experiential learning and a control class using science learning with a scientific approach. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire supported by an observation sheet. Data were analyzed using Manova Test with SPSS 22 and effect size test. The result is that field-based experiential learning science learning has an effect on earthquake disaster preparedness and mitigation with a moderate effect category. Furthermore, it is hoped that research on experiential learning can be developed with the support of learning media innovations or others so that preparedness and mitigation can be achieved more optimally.
