Abstrakt: The article focuses on the two Indigenous Peoples of Japan, namely the Ainu and the Ryūkyūans (or Okinawans). It mentions that Japan has adopted the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), but does not recognize the unconditional right to self-determination. It discusses the territories, populations, and recognition (or lack thereof) of the Ainu and Ryūkyūans as Indigenous Peoples in Japan.
