In this paper, we present the study of polarization characteristics of motorcycle engine lubricants. The characteristics testing was carried out using a light polarizer which is passed through the sample and the change of polarization angle was measured. The light source used in this method is a green laser with a wavelength of 532 nm and a red laser with a wavelength of 632 nm. The linear polarization through the sample was varied via the angle of polarization (0° - 90°) and additionally was used the external electric field (0 to 9 kV) to affect the sample. We show that there is a unique pattern of polarization from varying the angle and that the lubricant has an optical activity. It is also found that variation of external electric fields to the sample results in a nonlinear optics response in the form of a second-order polynomial. The identical behavior of natural and electro-optics polarization shows that the molecular forms of lubricant oils are relatively equal, and can be further developed comprehensively to investigate other kinds of oils.
