Abstrakt: Butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea L.) are potential as feed additives in improving the digestive tract condition of broiler. Butterfly pea content flavonoid has the ability as antibacterial. The purpose of this research was to examine the antibacterial inhibit contained in butterfly pea against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Lactobacillus sp. The research consisted of 5 treatments and 4 replications with P0 treatment: distilled water (control negative), P1: Butterfly pea 0.4%, P2: Butterfly pea 0.6%, P3: Butterfly pea 0.8%. The research was designed according to the completely randomized design and the Duncan test was performed to define the difference among treatments. The results showed that the inhibition of butterfly pea extract had a significant effect (P<0.05) on bacteria E. coli, S. aureus, and Lactobacillus sp. The results of measurement of total flavonoid before 24 hours reached 507.05 ppm decreased reaching 479.74 ppm after 24 hours. The higher inhibition activity was found in Gram-positive bacteria whereas the lower inhibition activity was found in Gram-negative bacteria. These results revealed that extract of butterfly pea to a concentration of 0.8% can inhibit the growth of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
