This research aims to understand the management system used by the people in Arfak Mountains to manage the beef cattle (Bos sondaicus), along with the obstacles that they face. The research used the descriptive method with interviews and observation techniques. The research subject was the stock farmer in several villages within the Minyambouw and Hink districts as the purposive samples. The data collected consists of primary and secondary data. The primary data were collected from direct interviews with the farmers at the research locations based on our questionnaire, while the secondary data were wholly collected from the related government agency and research reports related to the breeding and maintenance of beef cattle. The interviews data were analyzed with the tabulation method to find out which important factors should be observed. The research result shows that the governance of the Bali cattle by the locals of Arfak Mountains is still being done traditionally (extensively), and the obstacles that they face are not putting enough care toward the feed aspect, housing aspect, and the cattle#x2019;s general health aspect. The Bali cattle in the location have been raised since the year 2000 and their numbers are still growing. Therefore, it is necessary for the government and all of the stakeholders to put more effort into not only increasing the number of cattle, but also providing counselling, training, supervision, and assistance in a sustainable way for the livestock business to flourish. Which, in turn, will improve the welfare of the people. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
