The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of treatments (soaking by sappan wood (Caesalpinia sappan L.) extract; storage time) on weight loss and yolk index of chicken eggs. This research was conducted from June to August 2021. A total of 48 fresh layer eggs (age <24 hours) were selected for the experiment, conforming to the criteria as follows: brown in color, clean, intact, not cracked, smooth, and oval in shape. The experiment followed a factorial completely randomized design (4×4) with 3 replications. The first factors included the level of sappan wood extract (X) consisting of X0 = 0% (w/v), X1=10%, X2 = 20% (w/v), X3 = 30% (w/v), while the storage time as the second factor (Y) included Y1 = 1 day, Y2 = 7 days, Y3 = 14 days, Y4 = 21 days. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance, and further test using LSD was applied to verify the difference between means. The results show that the soaking treatment by sappan wood extract and storage time did not affect weight loss and yolk index of the chicken eggs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
