Abstrakt: The article describes an algorithm for testing a D242 diesel engine equipped with a dual-fuel diesel control system and operating according to the gas and diesel cycle using compressed natural gas. The scheme of the experimental unit on the basis of D242 diesel engine is specified in the article. It includes a gas supply system into the diesel engine cylinders, control and monitoring system of supply indicators — the opening angle of gas solenoid valves for gas fuel supply, gas fuel supply pressure, number of rotations, the percentage of diesel fuel supply from the maximum possible. The conducted practical research allowed to make the adjustment of the largest gas valve opening angle on the intake stroke at different operating modes of the diesel engine. This made it possible to achieve maximum substitution of diesel fuel with natural gas in various operating modes. Based on the results of the experimental studies, the conclusion about the feasibility of using natural gas as a fuel for diesel engines was made. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
