Air conditioning systems (АCS) of railway buildings, in particular stations, in the summer are characterized by a significant uneven heat load, and their peak value is several times higher than the daily average for 3 - 4 hours during the day. During the night, the heat load is minimal and to increase the efficiency of the АCS in such conditions, it is advisable to use cold accumulators. The article shows that in the range of temperatures characteristic of air cooling in the ACS, the use of gas hydrates as media for cold accumulation has a significant advantage over ice. The schematic and technological solution of АCS with gas hydrate cold accumulator (HCA) is considered, the principle of its effect is described, and the thermodynamic processes in it are shown on the P-T diagram. Calculations performed using the example of the operating conditions of the ACS in the building railway station Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi showed that the average value of exergetic СUA ηех.av. with HCA – 20.0 %, and ACS with ice cold accumulator (ICA) – 15.3 %, which confirms the higher thermodynamic efficiency of АCS with HCA.
