Abstrakt: An Azo-Hydrazone derivative 2-methoxy-6-((E)-(4-nitrophenyl)diazenyl)-4-((E)-(2-phenylhydrazineylidene) methyl)phenol (NAVPH) for detecting Cyanide and phosphate Anion in acetonitrile solution has been designed and synthesized from (E)-4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-((4-nitrophenyl)diazenyl)benzaldehyde and phenylhydrazine. The ability of the NAVPH as sensor CN and PO43- was determined by UV-Vis spectroscopy studies. CN and PO43- in the NAVPH solution caused the wavelength shift from 358 nm to 604 nm and 626 nm, respectively. The presence of hydroxy and nitro groups in the sensor increases both selectivity and sensitivity for cyanide and phosphate, with the color change of the sensor dramatically. The interaction of the sensor with cyanide and phosphate ions changed the color of the solution from yellow to violet, which makes the naked-aye recognition in the acetonitrile solution.
