Abstrakt: Kon and Ha Thanh river are important river networks of Quy Nhon city - Binh Dinh province. In the past, rivers in the urban areas were very important for transportation, national defense, livelihoods and beliefs of urban people. River banks are the motivation and development of floodplains. However, over time, as the age of industrialization, scientific progress allowed humans to intervene more deeply in the control of nature, there was more and more connection between waterways and settlements. Humans have tamed, controlled and redirected waterways, tightening and restricting the flow of canals and rivers. Through survey analysis of post-flood areas, review the histories of riverside residential communities and their attitudes toward development and change, and then discuss the threats and crises to the cultural landscape, causes and impacts of disasters, theoretical frameworks for best management practices, and resolution models proposed by relevant authorities. While history also gives us a sense of traditional identity and culture, the article attempts to find a paradigm shift and approach for future flood adaptation by using "the meaning and perception in the cultural landscape".
