In this paper initially, a method is described for novel designing the turbine moving blade of a high loaded two-stage turbine. Moving blades are designed according to the type of the turbine stage in which they will be arranged. In this respect turbine stages may be classified as impulse and reaction type and stages with short blades those with long blades. This method is based on the ability to be firmly relied on to design parameters that are derived from an efficient turbine of lowering loading. Secondly, the performance of original and new datum blades is tested in both single-stage and two-stage configurations and are measured. This paper gives a full and detailed representation of the experimentation work along with an interpretation of test measurements. The work resulted in designing anew blade with an enhancement in the efficiency of the first stage, but the performance of the second stage remains unchanged. An analysis of blade section velocity distribution along with graphical representation provides valuable and essential information in the empirical blade design approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
