The major objective of the project is to predict and analyze the flow through engine intake manifold and inlet by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). FLUENT software was preferred to analyze the 3D model of air-inlet system created in HyperMesh. The meshing of the model was generated using the tetra-hedralscheme which includes primarily the tetrahedral elements and also include hexahedral elements, pyramidal elements and wedge elements in HyperMesh. The boundary conditions for pressure were constrained to define the fluid pressure at the inlet valve and outlet valve of Intake System. The CFD result will help to understand the various conditions and parameters of the flow field of Air-Intake manifold. The result shows the airflow at the inlet should match with the experimental results for the best output. The results are validated for optimizing the various design aspects and parameters of the air intake system of an automobile by the CFD model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
