The article discusses the process of making rimming steel 08kp-U in two-bath furnaces. The author states that as is known, the quality of the surface of ingots of rimming steel is determined by the thickness of the dense outer skin, the shape of its top part and the degree of development of chemical segregation. He adds that these parameters are interrelated and depend on the intensity of the rimming action that takes place during the crystallization of rimming steel. He points out that one of the main problems with ingots of rimming steel is that the blowholes are close to the surface of the ingot. |
