Abstrakt:	This paper raises the issue of the nomenclature of cheeses (tyronyms). The analysed onymic corpus comprises 200 proper names of cheeses produced by the Polish local cheese dairies and organic farms. The focal point of this discussion is the description of the motivation behind modern tyronyms and the factors determining the nomenclature. Attention is also paid to the formal structure of these names and the ways of their formation. These explorations are of synchronous nature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
