The article focuses on the Abbey Gate attack at Harmid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) in 2021, which served as an opportunity to assess military casualty management in a hostile environment. Topics include the availability and transfusion of blood products during the attack, the use of whole blood-based resuscitation, and feasibility of a walking blood bank; and operating team with long-lasting plasma and walking blood bank supplementation, can be sufficient for managing injured patients. |
