A Wide-Band Strip-Fed Compact Dielectric Resonator Antennas.

Abstrakt: This paper details the capabilities of promising designs of compact Dielectric Resonator Antennas (DRAs) for different frequency bands Applications. The 3D antenna geometry of the DRA and their features such as broad bandwidth, high efficiency, and low losses make such designs interesting for 5G applications. The DRA is excited by a vertical strip placed on the middle of the DRA's side wall through a coaxial probe attached to a finite-size ground plane. The DRA material is Rogers RT/Duroid 6010 with relative permittivity of er = 10.2. From the results, it can be observed that the proposed antennas achieve very wide impedance bandwidths of up to 71% for different bands, namely, C, X, and K-bands with gain values as high as 7 dBi. In addition, the strip feeder shape is adjusted for better impedance matching for the different designs. The measured and simulated results are matched considerably. Although the proposed antenna designs are compact in size, they give appreciable gain and radiation patterns within the frequency bands of interest. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
