Abstrakt: Introduction: It has been two years since covid-19 pandemic began, with India seeing three deadly waves. With multiple lockdowns, dental colleges have seen reduced number of OPD. As orthodontic treatment is considered as an elective procedure, various orthodontic departments suffered from reduced number of new patients, loss of follow up of old patients, etc. There is hesitance among recent dental graduates from taking up orthodontics. Aims and Objectives: To assess the impact of Covid-19 on the orthodontic PG curriculum, problems faced by PG students of every year, the opinion of orthodontic faculties and popularity of orthodontics among dental graduates. We aim to assess the impact of any future covid-19 wave or lockdown on orthodontics and hope to find solutions for them. Material and Method: Two questionnaires, one for PG students of orthodontics and one for Faculty of orthodontics were prepared. These questionnaires were circulated to 75 PG students and 75 faculties of orthodontics from various dental colleges in India and their responses were recorded and analyzed. Results: Post Graduate Students- 53% Pg students were dissatisfied with the number and variety of new patients and procedures. 59% faced difficulties while carrying out their in-vivo dissertations and research projects. 65% reported that lockdown affected the treatment time and prognosis of their patients. 75% students felt that orthodontic curriculum should be changed to accommodate any future pandemic. Orthodontic Faculties- 83% faculties agreed that there is reduction in the number of new patients in their departments of their dental colleges, 92% agreed that the batch of PG students during covid has suffered significant loss in their education during covid. 66% felt that there should be a reformed curriculum to accommodate any future pandemic and to make MDS in orthodontics more productive. Conclusion: Post graduate students and orthodontic faculties agreed that there was significant loss in education and clinical work due to covid-19 pandemic and there is a need for a reformed curriculum for post graduation in orthodontics to make it more productive incase of any future pandemic.
