The paper considers the predictor-corrector mode for symmetric multi-step methods with a non-vanishing interval of periodicity. The theory of linear stability for the predictor-corrector mode of this case is described. A technology is proposed for selecting predictor-corrector pairs from a wide family of high order symmetric methods. The technology takes into account both the length of the interval of periodicity and the accuracy of the numerical solution. We compare computational costs of predictor-corrector mode for the selected pairs of high order symmetric methods and the Everhart integrator of the same order. The numerical experiments are carried out for a model problem specially constructed from the restricted three-body problem (Earth–Moon–Earth's satellite of negligible mass). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
