Abstrakt: Cobalt ferrite compounds doped with yttrium element, namely CoYxFe1-xO4 with x = 0.06, 0.08, and 0.10, have been successfully prepared using the sol-gel automatic combustion method. The obtained samples were annealed at a temperature of 500 °C for 4 hours at standard atmospheric conditions. The scanning x-ray diffractometer (XRD) results showed that the samples had a face center cubic (fcc) crystal system with Fd-3m space group. XRD results also showed that the length of the lattice constant decreased with increasing the amount concentration of yttrium doping. The results of calculations using the Scherrer equation showed crystal sizes of 19.73 nm, 18.08 nm, and 13.23 nm for the yttrium doping concentration, x of 0.06, 0.08, and 0.10, respectively. The magnetic properties of the VSM results showed a decrease in magnetization saturation, namely 42.70 emu/g, 34.46 emu/g, and 28.08 emu/g, along with the increase in the concentration of x yttrium doping. The magnetization saturation decreased due to the substitution of the non-magnetic element yttrium on the magnetic cobalt ferrite nanoparticles reducing the total magnetic moment of the sample. The results of the Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) test showed that there were typical absorption curves at wave numbers (k) 573.85 cm−1, 570.95 cm−1, and 569.99 cm-1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
