Abstrakt: The gasification produces synthesis gas (syngas), which is rich in H2O, CH4, CO2, CO, H2O and several unwanted by-products, e.g., H2S. This H2S is considered dangerous and toxic that leads to corrosion in the system during syngas utilization. An alternative to remove H2S at high temperature of up to 900°C is the utilization of metal oxide adsorbent. The operating parameters in syngas purification affects the composition of the resulting syngas. In this study, different metal oxides, including ZnO, Cu2O, MnO, FeO, Ce2O3, utilized at varying working temperature on the syngas purification was modeled and simulated using Aspen Plus. The simulation results reveal that irrespective of the metal oxide the higher working temperature, the lower efficiency of H2S cleaning. The best performing adsorbent amongst the investigated metal oxides is Cu2O yielding an LHV of 115,738.4 kJkmol-1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
