Many researchers have carried out titanium dioxide (TiO2, titania) as a photocatalyst to degrade pollutants. In this paper, we report an attempt to improve the ability of titania to photodegrade liquid pollutants by adding reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) in composite form. A thin layer of TiO2/rGO was deposited by spin coating methods on a glass substrate. TiO2 synthesis was carried out using the co-precipitation method with TiCl3 as the precursor. Characterization of the crystalline structure and phase of TiO2 was studied by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The TiO2/rGO film's optical absorption spectra and thickness morphology were studied by UV-Vis spectrometer and optical microscopy, respectively. The results of the XRD analysis showed that the synthesized TiO2 formed the anatase phase. The film of TiO2/rGO formed using the spin coating method showed that the film is thinner than the TiO2 film. While testing the TiO2/rGO film using a UV-Vis spectrometer showed that the absorption increased, so it could increase TiO2 as a photocatalyst. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
