Copper deficiency is an important risk factor for poor calf health and performance. Even mild deficiency of this trace element may result in decreased growth rate. Copper status in newborn calves depends on serum and tissue copper concentrations in their dams. Copper deficiency may be caused not only by low dietary copper intake, but also by high concentrations of substances decreasing its bioavailability. The aim of this paper was to present the aspects connected with copper deficiency in young cattle. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
