Abstrakt: When the clotting mechanism is exposed to the stress of 25 mgs of intramuscularly administered ACTH, a variable response is obtained. While the single tube venous clotting time sensitized with heparin is remarkably stable on daily serial determinations, a single dose of ACTH will produce a lengthening, no significant response or a shortening of the clotting time. These three types of response can be correlated with clinical diagnoses of normal, endangered and frankly thromboembolic individuals. The response seems also dependent on the eosinophil response of the patient and may be influenced by anticoagulants or in a single case, by thyroid. This preliminary note will require much further elaboration until its clinical value can be established. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
