There are no quick indicators that can be used as the parameters to assess changes in soil quality in the different land use systems. Assessment of changes in soil quality that occur today can be done by assessing the properties of soil in the laboratory and in the field by requires a long time and is quite expensive as well as trained human resources. This research aimed to find quick indicators in assessing changes of soil quality in dry land under agroforestry system. The research method used was a descriptive method with qualitative observations in the field and quantitative analysis in the laboratory of the soil physical properties (moisture levels and bulk density), soil chemical properties (C /N ratio) and soil biological properties (CO2 evolution) and linking it to the development of soil morphology in the field for a quick indicator of assessing the changes soil quality. The study was conducted in the Pemongkong Village of East Lombok District under 17 years of Swietenia mahagony based agroforestry, Albizia chinensis based agroforestry and control (vacant land). The results showed that the best soil quality was under the Swietenia mahagony followed by the land under Albizia chinensis and control land. The novelty of the resecah is that the changes in soil quality can be manifested by the morphological characteristics of the soil which resulted from the implementation of agroforestry as well as can be used as a quick indicator of changes in soil quality.
