The Constitutional Court soon dissolved Thaksin's second party and left a void in some districts that Future Forward could now fill. In some respects, the authors succeed, portraying the Future Forward Party the latest iteration of a "transformational" movement (p. 108), which was preceded by Thaksin's Thai Rak Thai party more than 20 years ago and Palang Dharma, a Buddhist-inspired political party founded in the late 1980s. To compensate for overrepresentation in Parliament and to avoid being penalized in party list seats, Thaksin created a second political party, Thai Raksa Chart to win seats outside of Thai Rak Thai strongholds (pp. 7-9).
