Ten instances of peptic ulcer were found among 43 male patients with regional enteritis or an incidence of 23 per cent. The frequent coexistence of these two diseases is further evidence that there are no specific personality disturbances in different psychosomatic diseases. The coexistence of these two diseases complicates and confuses the clinical picture. Therapy becomes complicated since a therapeutic approach to one disease may be detrimental to the other. Corticotropin and corticoids must be used with caution in the treatment of regional enteritis because of the possible coexistence of peptic ulcer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
