Ukraine urgently needs free-standing alternative energy sources. We analyse how this can be achieved in the agricultural sector and what the economic effect would be. A benefit of biomass energy is that the farm can make use of sources that do not at present generate any financial return. Biomass energy is profitable and always accessible; it is not intermittent. Solar panels would be viable in peacetime but not in a war, when the state is unable to secure the conditions under which solar arrays would be profitable. At the same time, there is a need for a more sustainable energy system on the way to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
