Abstrakt: The authors discusses the potential of atacicept as an effective treatment for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). They cite how atacicept impacts on B cell and plasma cell growth and differentiation but its use for the right disease indication is still being explored. In a phase III trial, the atacicept demonstrated its beneficial effect compared with placebo in patients with SLE while a safety analysis also showed that atacicept were not linked to increased infection rates.
