Vaporization Thermodynamics of the WO3-ZnO System.

Abstrakt: A systematic approach to the study of the vaporization thermodynamics of ZnWO4 was applied and the WO3-ZnO system was investigated by Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry in the temperature range 1225-1515 K. It was determined that the ZnWO4 mixed oxide sublimes incongruently and the vapor over the WO3-ZnO system is enriched in the ZnO component. The standard enthalpies of some gaseous and heterogeneous reactions occurring during vaporization in the WO3-ZnO system were evaluated. And the standard enthalpy of formation of ZnWO4 at 298.15 K was found to be − 1235.1 ± 31.8 kJ/mol. The presence of oxygen in the equilibrium gas phase of the WO3-ZnO system allowed us to determine the standard enthalpy of formation of W3O8(g) with an appropriate accuracy. Based on the data obtained, a schematic p–x-section of the phase diagram of the WO3-ZnO quasi-binary system at 1335 K was constructed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
