An interview with author and lawyer Jay Bergen is presented. Bergen talks about the legal case between singer-songwriter John Lennon and Morris Levy, co-founder and owner of Roulette Records, relating to their three-song agreement, as well as the album of Lenon's oldies recordings called "Roots" released by Levy, and the role of music critic Dave Marsh as a defense witness who critiqued and compared the albums "Roots" and "Rock 'n' Roll." He also recalls Lenon's weariness of the music business. |
