Abstrakt: This article studies the effect of a vitamin B6 deficient diet in stone formation in hooded Wistar rats. Forty barrier bred and maintained hooded Wistar rats weighing 120 g were divided evenly into five dietary treatment groups. The basic diet was based on the semipurified diet for vitamin B6 deficiency. Calcium concentrations were measured in plasma, urine and the diet by atomic absorption spectroscopy. In a preliminary experiment the influence of vitamin B6 deficiency in rats observed by other workers was confirmed in this strain, namely a depression of growth rate, convulsive episodes in some rats, and a dramatic response in growth rate with the replacement of vitamin B6.
