Modelling and simulation of energy system storage for Bas KiTe plug-in hybrid electric bus in Kuala Terengganu.

Abstrakt: Bas KiTe is the public bus in Kuala Terengganu currently consume diesel as the primary source to operate the bus. To reduce diesel usage, Bas KiTe plug-in hybrid electric bus (KITEPHEB) is introduced. In KITEPHEB, the combination of ultracapacitor and battery in energy system storage (ESS) is studied. The aims of this study to determine the parameters and specification of ESS, design a model of the ESS components using MATLAB/SIMULINK environment, and validate the ESS model using ADVISOR using standard driving cycle. KITEPHEB battery voltage, battery power, ESS demand power, fuel economy and emission were analysed using Kuala Terengganu driving cycle. The results have shown that the ESS model for KITEPHEB may be used for building the plug-in hybrid electric bus prototype in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
