The article presents information on an experiment related to the induction by isoniazid and hydrallazine of antinuclear factors (ANF) in mice. The present experiments indicate that both hydrallazine and isoniazid are able to induce the appearance of ANF in BAEB/c and C57H1/6 mice; the incidence of ANF was significantly higher in C57BI/6 females receiving either hydrallazine or isoniazid and in BAEB/c receiving hydrallazine than in controls. When the drug had been withdrawn for 2 months some previously positive mice became ANF negative. Similar disappearance of antinuclear antibodies has been observed in drug-induced syndromes in man. |
