She is currently conducting an online ethnography with cage-free egg consumers in China, which would shed light on both their perspectives and behaviours of purchasing and consuming cage-free eggs. In the chapter devoted to chickens, recommended housing systems included indoor coops/cages with perches, sheltered coops with outdoor access, or bramble cages complete with nests provided in the walls ([12]). Caged-laying hens or cage-free eggs: a qualitative study on Chinese egg producers' views on animal welfare and adopting cage-free systems. Lever China also examined 873 packaged egg products sold in 10 major supermarkets in four first-tier cities in China and found that more than 17% of these products claimed to be produced in cage-free conditions (using descriptors such as "free-range" [ ], "cage-free" [ ], "organic"[ ], or images of cage-free environments).
