This research aimed to identify education levels to become a drafter manufacturing industry in UPT Logam Yogyakarta and PT. Harimukti Teknik, to indentify software that a drafter manufacturing industry in UPT Logam Yogyakarta and PT. Harimukti Teknik should acquire and to identify supporting skills a drafter of a manufacturing industry in Yogyakarta. This research uses qualitative methods, where the researcher is the main instrument to obtain data. Sources of data used are data obtained during interviews and required documentation. The data is then analyzed through several stages, namely: analysis before going into the field and data analysis in the field. The theoretical basis uses the Miles and Huberman model. Based on the data analysis carried out, it was found that a manufacturing drafter must have the following competencies: The minimum education level for a drafter is vocational high school graduate with a major in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering, mastering the basics of technical drawing, able to use computer aided design software at least Solid Work, able to make drawings three dimensions becomes a working drawing, knows standard operational procedures at work, knows occupational health and safety in the work environment, has good communication skills, has a good personality (teamwork, honesty, discipline, and responsibility).
